about

"Whiskey Business" was inspired by a wordplayful comment by Randell Kirsch on the Facebook. He agreed to let me use the title, with the condition that it become a songwriting contest. To date, only I have mustered up the goods, far as i know. It's a "Dewar's die scenario."

This is version 1, to be updated and adapted by some actual band, project or 'tother, at some point.

lyrics

"Whiskey Business" (Joe Woodard)

I’m drinking on the job of life
Thinkin’ ‘bout a new line of livelihood
Where fuzzy doesn’t cut it
And lips that dare to touch it, could be a face-off
There’s Johnny Walkin’ down the line
A Dewar’s die scenario
A lover would be nicer
A somebody could be so much spicier

Chorus:
Life is what you make it
Break it ‘till you make it
Love’s the stuff we’re made of, so
Life is whiskey business
Life is whiskey business

I’ve half a mind to throw some back
Get to the numby feeling of half a mind
Amnesia is a sweetener, sometimes
I needja as my sweetheart, all the time

Second chorus, slightly shorter…

I’ll catch the sober train later
For now, I’m busy on the lube express
Riding on the speeding train
If I could just remember my name…

Third chorus:
A name is what you make it
Break it ‘till you make it
Love’s the stuff we’re made of, so
Life is whiskey business
Life is whiskey business
